‘Wuthering Heights’ Gets a Twilight Marketing Strategy

Courtesy of Lion_lamb we have the picture of this new ‘Wuthering Heights’ edition with carries a cover strikingly similar to the Twilight covers’ style as well as the same Twilight font. Not only that, but it has a sticker on it that reads “Edward and Bella’s Favorite book”.

What do you think? Fair game or unfair? We think it’s kind of tacky.

Personally, Twilight actually was the reason I read Wuthering Heights and I really liked it. I think the new font and cover are beautiful but I still think its just too tacky…especially calling it “Edward and Bella’s Favorite Book”….If we want to read Wuthering Heights because of Twilight, more power to us….but this is pushing it unnecissarily.

Yes, the cover is a little on the cheesy side but I think anything that convinces teenagers to read books is a great thing! They would be crazy not cash in on the Edward & Bella windfall!

  5. claire says:

it’s a bit degrading to what is a classic novel, for the publisher to market it this way i think.. but whatever

  6. Megan says:

i think it put that sticker on it because they havent had a lot of rating for selling the book…and they know how well the twilight sagas books are selling..i honestly think that it is stupid and sad…if they hav to but a sticker of a book characters favorite book…just to sell your own book….did ya get that..lol

  7. Kari says:

    Definately tacky.

I agree, I think it\’s tacky. It\’s one thing to change the cover to resemble Twilight, but it\’s another to add \"Bella and Edward\’s favorite book.\"

I think it’s a great way to draw people to read a classic book. More power to them.

  10. I think its actually not that tacky, they DID mention it in the saga. I actually READ the book because it was mentioned in the saga, ahahaha. Powerful book, I even watched the 1939 b/w classic movie because of twilight! I wouldn’t consider it tacky at all :D

No offense to anyone here who likes it.
But I think it’s an insult to Bronte (no offense to Meyer or Twilight!). It’s just that Wuthering Heights is a classic novel that is in a league of its own when it comes to Twilight. And it’s previous covers are not only visually stunning, but they suit the book much better.

So here’s a facebook group against this to join, if anyone is interested. =]

I just saw this at a Borders and thought it was the most stupid idea ever. I liked the cover design because it was simple and honestly reflects the ic romance theme of the book. However upon looking at the rest of the cover I was disgusted. That is NOT a sticker it is a part of the cover. I think that’s it’s great that Twilight has opened teens up to reading classic literature. If you read the Twilight Saga and found out about Wuthering Heights and read it, that fine. It is not ok that they stamped “Edward and Bella’s Favorite Book” on the front cover. The novel is property of Emily Bronte and she alone should be credited for this amazing piece of literature. Not some adolescent aimed romance novel.
