Mexican magazine 15 a 20 interviewed Taylor Lautner for the magazine. They visited the set of New Moon and talked to Taylor during the breaks between filming. It’s a very insightful interview and Taylor describes a lot of his scenes, especially the ones with all the high tension between his character and Edward Cullen.

“The whole Twilight experience was crazy and completely unexpected. I feel so happy to be back with New Moon, with the same team and the new director Chris Weitz. It’s very fun and it’s been a very crazy journey.”

On working out for the sequel: “I knew Jacob was going to change a lot, so the next day after Twilight wrapped shooting I went home and hit the gym. Gained 30 pounds of muscle for the character. I hope fans are happy with it.”

However, he almost blew it: “I was overworking. I was working out too much. I worked out morning, afternoon and night. My trainer said .Taylor you need to calm down, you’re working out too much and you’re burning a lot of calories’. We worked on a new routing, I worked out only once a day, five days a week, and that’s how I started to gain muscle.”

On his scene as the new Jacob Black: “Bella spends a lot of time with Jacob trying to come out of her depression. They start building bikes and become very close. But then all of a sudden, he disappears and she doesn’t know where he’s at. So she goes looking for him at his house. She sees a guy walking out of the garage and she doesn’t think that’s him because Jacob had long hair and was built normally. As she approaches him, he turns around, and it’s a new Jacob Black”.

He told us he did all of his own stunts and that he lwas trained to ride four-wheel motorcycles. He also had to prove he could climb rocks at a local gym, to be allowed to do it in the movie. Once he passed the test, he was ready to film the scenes. “Those scenes are my favorite. There’s more action in this film, and in my opinion, it’s thanks to the wolves. Today we filmed a scene in which Bella confronts the wolves and tells them ‘What have you done to Jacob?’, Paul gets furious and he transforms into a wolf right in front of her and almost attacks her. Jacob sees this from his window and runs to save Bella. She thinks Jacob is going to hug her, but then he jumps and flies above her as he transforms into a wolf, he attacks Paul.
I was wearing a harness for the jumping scene, 10 feet above the ground, then I stopped and tried to feeze there for a few second so that the special effects team could work on that later. They will transform my body into a wolf’s body, so that when you see it in the movie it’s all poof-poof-poof (moves his arms explaining the transformation).”

About the Quileute tribe: “All the members of the pack are from the same tribe. At fist Sam, Jared and Paul are distant to the rest of the pack because they turned into wolves first. Embry, Jacob’s best friend, ditches Jacob to hang out with them, and Jacob doesn’t get it. He thinks his friend abandoned him. But then Jacob starts his transformation and they’re together again. They look great together”.

About the love triangle: “The romance continues in New Moon, but Edward decides to leave and Bella falls into a deep depression. She uses Jacob to get out of that depression. She says Jacob is her sun, so he tries to help her come out of that hole and they become very close. At some point you start to think there might be something more than a friendship between them, but you can’t be sure. Bella is still very confused and everything gets complicated when Jacob says ‘Im a werewolf’.
Bella still has Edward in her mind. Jacob wants Bella all for himself, but he never gets that.
The most important thing is that the agreement they have with the vampires (if vampires bite a human, the wolves are free to attack them). So Jacob goes around reminding this to people. And in the end of the movie there’s a scene where you see Edward and Jacob together for the first time after everything that happened, and there’s some obvious tension. Edward is ready to leave with Bella, and Jacob reminds him the agreement ‘Just don’t bite my girl’.

“A lot of people ask me, do you think Edward and Jacob really hate each other, or is it just a competition? They want the same girl. In my opinion, it starts like a competition but when you see that final scene between them I’d say Jacob pretty much hates Edward”.
