Twilight Poison Review: Robert Pattinson A – Z

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

With so many Robert Pattinson books hitting the shelves every year, it’s hard for fans to know if any of them are worth buying in stores. We have so many options these days with all the magazines featuring exclusive photoshoots and interviews. We have an actual comic book selling out in stores. There’s picture books and albums, and many unauthorized biographies. What should we buy at a bookstore, and more importantly – what is worth buying?
Few books contain so much information in one place, and Robert Pattinson A – Z is by far the most complete book I’ve seen. I haven’t seen so much information put together so well outside the internet. Robert Pattinson A-Z is a mini Robert Pattinson encyclopedia that every fan must have. Whatever you want to know about Rob, it’s here. It’s updated, it’s accurate and it touches every subject related to Rob. The people that changed his life, the highlights of his career, his projects, his best quotes, his co-stars and directors, his funninest moments (there’s an entry titled Chat-Up Lines, with all the weird things Rob thought were cool to say to girls when he was younger- “I just got out of prison” was among them) – everything has an entry in this little encyclopedia.

Written by a fellow Robert Pattinson fan, Sarah Oliver, this book is for every fan who wants to have all of Rob’s best in one single place. Many Rob fans are very well informed about all things Rob, especially those who hang out on the Internet everyday, but for many new fans it must be hard to go through thousands of blogs and fansites dedicated to the actor to learn more about him. It’s also hard to get all the straight facts when so many publications run inaccurate information about him, so this is more than perfect for all the newer Robert Pattinson fans.

The book is also very fun to read, and even as a somewhat of an expert fan, I still loved going through the pages and remembering Rob in simpler times, like right before Twilight hit theaters. A highly recommended read is the Cedric Diggory entry, where we read about Rob’s first real brush with fame and the experience of starring on a major franchise that it probably prepared him for something like Twilight. As a fan of Harry Potter who became fan of Rob since then, it’s a little surreal to read about those days now. There’s also an entry dedicated to Reese Witherspoon, as there for his most significant co-stars, that quotes Rob back in the day saying how he decided to be an actor after working with her on Vanity Fair “I should be an actor. I’m doing a movie with Reese Witherspoon”. Six years later and he’s the male lead in a new Reese Witherspoon movie, a now Academy Award winner.

The book also tackles rumors and gossip. There’s entries dedicated to Megan Fox, Zac Efron, The X-Factor, the Internet, among others, where the real facts are presented to fans. How many times did we read in 2009 that Rob was hooking up with Megan Fox? Or that Zac Efron was jealous and felt threatned by Rob? The book sets the record straight and quotes Rob on the matter. Even when touching down personal subjects like girlfriends or relationships, the book uses Rob’s quotes on the matter, keeping it honest.

I found the book to be increadibly respectful to Rob, which I really appreciated. I really enjoyed going through it and seeing how friendly, complete and accurate it was. I think even Rob would enjoy to read it, since there’s nothing invasive or embarrassing written in the pages. It’s just Rob! All the best moments, all the highlights, all the awkwardness, the cuteness, the dry sense of humor, the honesty, the drive, and everything that makes us love him

Stephenie, Kristen and Rob in Forbes 100 Most Powerful Celebrities

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

Forbes has released their 100 Most Poweful Celebrities list, and featured in it are, naturally, Rob, Kristen and Stephenie Meyer.

#50 Robert Pattinson

Power Rank: 50
Pay: $17.0 mil
Category: Actors
Pay Rank: 86
Web Rank: 7
Press Rank: 37
TV/Radio Rank: 53
Social Rank: 68

Everyone’s favorite vampire may be on the verge of becoming a true movie star. Pattinson earns most of his money from the Twilight films where he stars as Edward Cullen. But he’ll break out of the Twilight rut with next year’s Like Water for Elephants, based on the popular novel and costarring Reese Witherspoon.

#59 Stephenie Meyer

Power Rank: 59
Pay: $40.0 mil
Category: Authors
Pay Rank: 48
Web Rank: 32
Press Rank: 59
TV/Radio Rank: 85
Social Rank: 87

Meyer didn’t release a new book in 2009 but she still lands on our list thanks to the almost rabid fans who devour everything to do with her successful Twilight series. She has reportedly sold over 100 million copies of her vampire novels and the film versions have so far earned $1 billion at the box office.

#66 Kristen Stewart

Power Rank: 66
Pay: $12.0 mil
Category: Teen Stars
Pay Rank: 92
Web Rank: 9
Press Rank: 53
TV/Radio Rank: 62
Social Rank: 69

The 20-year-old Stewart is now recognizable to teens around the world as Bella, the human caught between a vampire and a werewolf in the Twilight series. The movies have so far earned $1 billion at the box office and made Stewart a star. She stretched her wings this year with the indie film The Runaways where she played Joan Jett

Eclipse Producer on the Rob-Kristen Romance: “God, I Hope They Stay Together”

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

In a surprisingly candid interview, Wyck Godfrey has basically admitted to Time that Rob and Kristen are a couple, putting an end to fan speculation. Rob and Kristen have refused to give a direct answer to the media but that hasn’t stopped other people from coming forward and admitting it for them. Previously outting them in Time as well, we had Catherine Harwicke last year, who said they didn’t cross the line when filming Twilight, but they did whenthey were filming New Moon.

Everyone is talking about whatever is going on between Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. Is that good for business?
Do you want the honest answer? I haven’t even thought of it that way.

That’s not the honest answer.
It really is. I honestly don’t think of it in terms of business. It doesn’t affect our core business at all. The thing I do think about is, Oh my God, I hope they stay together. Because it could be awkward on set in the next movie if they have a huge falling out. It’s like, Wow, they have to portray this love story through two more movies. God, I hope they stay together; please stay together. That’s what affects my day-to-day. (See portraits of the Twilight stars.)

But you walk by newsstands and it’s a publicist’s dream: they are on every cover.
I don’t feel it’s out there anymore. Do people still report on it? If you look at people who have a stable personal life, the rags get tired of them. I think we’re heading to that place where they are together and that’s their life and we better find someone new to create drama out of.

Wyck also talks about Breaking Dawn, and once again lets fans know that the movie will not be Rated R.

Scans: The Washington Post Gives ECLIPSE Three Stars: “Eclipse Succeeds With Honor”

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

Here are the scans (ok, they’re pictures of the newspaper, but I don’t have a scanner right now, apologies!) of today’s Washington Post, which gave Eclipse a fairly postive review with three out of four stars. The review was mostly positive, but they aren’t crazy about Rob’s performance, and even less about Kristen’s; there are some harsh words for her, be advised, but they liked the interaction between Rob and Taylor, calling it one of the strongest points in the movie.

Here are the best quotes:

“Eclipse succeeds with honor, if not panache, moving the along with economy and focused momentum”.

“As Catherine Hardwicke did in the first Twilight, David Slade pays attention to mood an atmosphere, a sensitivity that New Moon grievously lacked”.
