McAfee released their annual list of most dangerous celebrities online. The computer security company makes a list every year of the subjects most used by hackers to infect people’s computers. Many unsuspected users download screensavers, wallpapers and files of their favorite celebrity, not knowing that the files contain dangerous malware or spyware.
“Cybercriminals are star watchers too – they latch onto popular celebrities to encourage the download of malicious software in disguise,” said Jeff Green, senior vice president of McAfee Avert Labs. “Consumers’ obsession with celebrity news and culture is harmless in theory, but one bad download can cause a lot of damage to a computer.”
Still, our favorite celebrities are not taking the top spots on the list. Robert Pattinson is at #30, while Kristen Stewart is at #20. The rest of the cast members are not listed.
