Twilight Halloween Cullen Costume Ideas

Recommended by MTV.com!

Another year and another Twilight movie! This means, more updates for our guides and new guides for new characters, just in time for Halloween and the release of New Moon. The best part about this updated guide is that we have a couple of tips to share directly from the owner of the company of all the recommended products in our guide: Too Faced Cosmetics, Jerrod Blandino.
When I started this guide a year ago I thought about making it a one of a kind guide. Something glamorous, sexy, sophisticated and fun for fans of all ages who wanted to look Inhumanly Beautiful a la Twilight vampire for Halloween. Most of the inspiration for this guide came from one of my absolute favorite make up lines, Too Faced. So many fans wrote me back with comments about this guide, but there's one e-mail that surprised me very much, the e-mail from Jerrod Blandin!. He really liked our guide and recommended the following products to improve the flawless/beautiful vampire look we are trying to achieve with this guide.

Jerrod shared with us is that these very products were used on the set of Eclipse to achieve exactly the look we're trying to teach you with this guide.
He says: "We've actually supplied quit a lot of product to New Moon & most recently Eclipse sets (Ashley Green & Kristen are big fans), so you were spot on with your tips. A few on set requests have been "Primed & Poreless" face primer for that flawlessly smooth vampire complexion and a product we created specifically for the vampire effect, "Candlelight powder" for that ethereal glow."

Note: Don't worry, this guide is pocket friendly too. You can also achieve this look with products you already have in your make up bag, if you don't feel like spending too much. If you do feel like spending on new cosmetics, I highly recommend Too Faced products. They're not very expensive and they're wonderful to use for other events as well. The point of this guide is that whatever you choose to buy, you will be able to use it again, and not just for Halloween.
Do NOT buy Halloween make up stuff. They damage you skin, they are a waste of money and you will only be able to use them once and will have throw them away.

Now let's begin, and if you have any ideas, questions, suggestions, etc. you can e-mail me at wolfspirit(at)twilightpoison.com.

Vampire Look - What to do and what not to do

The cool thing about the vampire look in Twilight is that it's beautiful, stunning and very sexy. That's what makes these vampires the perfect predators: they seduce their prey and become the center of attention with their stunning good looks. We are really going to try to focus on this.
I've seen so many tragic pictures of girls dressing up as Twilight vampires for release parties and they can only manage the "dead/pale/scary" look, but if you think about it, it's very un-Twilight. It's cartoonish and Halloween average. We are going to try and stay away from that in this guide. More important than looking "dead" and "pale" is looking "inhumanly beautiful", in my opinion. And that's what we're going to do. Don't be a Debbie Downer and think you won't be able to look flawless and gorgeous. You will!

We'll also try to make this look a bit more obvious for those who are not Twilight fans, so they know that you are dressed as a vampire (or some beautiful mythical creature, in case they don't get it right away!), just so we can spare the annoying "What are you supposed to be...?" questions. So it won't be a typical make up guide. We'll use those everyday, normal guides and take them one step forward. Don't be afraid to do it, it's Halloween!

First Step - Contact Lenses

The very first thing you need to get is... the golden eyes contacts. Red eyes, in case you want to be a regular human eating vampire or a Volturi. Or black eyes if you want to be a VERY starved vampire ;). Violet eyes if you want to be like Italian vampire Heidi, who hides her scary red eyes to lure in unsuspected innocent tourists: her favorite prey.

I would have to say that this is a must have for your costume. It's necessary if you want to be dressed as an actual Twilight vampire. If you want to freak out about getting one product on this guide for Halloween, I'd say this would be it. Prices go from $10.00 to $100. The more expensive they are, the better the quality and the best it will be for your eyes.

Here are more links that sell these colorful contacts:

- BCheap.
- Coastal Contacts.
- Grimm Brothers Halloween.
- Clearly Contacts.
- Haunted Eyes.

If you're going for the vegeterain vampire look stay away from anything yellow and go for the amber/golden/honey colors.

Step 2. Make up

One common mistake girls make when they dress up as a Cullen is that they paint their faces white, literally. With powder. I would have to say, this is a no-no since it's what makes them look cartoonish. You're supposed to be a Cullen, not a ghost. The Cullens are not white, they're pale. This means they keep some original human color, just a very faded, pale color.

This is what you need to get for the face:

- Concealer.
- Base foundation.
- Translucent pressed powder.
- Moisturizer for eyes and face.

Important Tip #1 - Do not get any Halloween-ish make up kits or creams. Not only do they suck and look horrible, they are also terrible for you skin. You need actual decent make up. This is a good thing because you can re-use it, as opposed to buying a make up kit that will most likely not be used until a year later and who knows if it'll be good to use then (not).

Important Tip #2 - When you look for the base and concealer don't just get any light color. You need to find a color that suits your skin tone. Concealer must be lighter than the base foundation. Since you'll be getting a vampire make over, try to get a color lighter than your normally wear.

Important Tip #3
- If your skin is very dark I would suggest you left it alone and applied your face make up in the same color you normally do. After seeing the vampires of dark complexion in the movies, we see their natural skin color doesn't go away when they become vampires, as it does with vampires of other races. Don't play with the color of your make up. We'll leave the fun for the eyes and lips :).

Important Tip #4 - Wash your face, then moisturize it before applying make up. It will be easy to apply your make up and it will look much better. This is also very healthy for your skin. We want your skin too look flawless and smooth too, like a perfect vampire would have it.

Apply the concealer around the eye area and apply over any areas with skin imperfections. Apply the base tapping gently with the tips of your fingers. Then use just a little bit of light rose pink blush around on your cheek bones. Just a tiny bit. I think that if done right you can still look very pale but very beautful. If you're a blush freak and feel like you might over do it, step away from the blush! We want just the slightest hint of blush.
Don't stop at the neck area. Since you are dressing up as a vampire, the best thing to do is to match your neck with your face.
Finally, apply pressed powder with a thick clean brush on your cheek bones, forehead and chin. Especially around all the shiny areas in your face.

Don't forget Jerrod's tips and recommended products!

"Primed & Poreless" face primer for that flawlessly smooth vampire complexion and a product we created specifically for the vampire effect, "Candlelight powder" for that ethereal glow.

Important Tip #5 - I suggest you don't recreate the dark circles under the eyes described in the Twilight books. I think some people overdo it and it's not really necessary. I think that the most important thing here is the inhumanly beautiful/pale look. Not the dead/white/creepy look. It's up to you, though.

Recommended Products for your Face:

Eye Make-up

Since it's Halloween and you're probably going to a cool party I would totally suggest playing a bit with the make up and add a very dramatic look to draw more attention to your face and the vampire contacts. Sure, the vampires in Twilight don't need eye make up, but on this occasion I would say, why the hell not. Halloween is all about drama so I wouldn't go for the normal vampire look. Plus, we want other people who are not familiar with Twilight to notice the vampire look. If you want to be any other vampire, then follow these instructions. Instructions for Alice, Rosalie and Esme are coming up.

This is what you need:

- Mascara.
- Eye liner.
- Various dark eye shadows.

I wouldn't use any regular mascara though. We need to draw attention to your golden eyes. For that we need a perfect frame, and that would be large beautiful set of eyeslashes. One of my absolute favorite make up brands is Too Faced. They produce an awesome line of mascara called Lash Injection. For $19.50 you can get lash coating mascara that will make you eyes pop up with larger looking lashes. And you can totally use this mascara again for other events.

An amazing way to wear the smokey eye shadow is this:

Imagine how your amber/red/violet eyes will pop up, especially if the party is at night! Again, this tip is completely optional. But if you're planning on dressing up as a character in Twilight, we have those instructions too, don't worry ;). Another way is this one:

Notice the faint rose color under her eyes and eye lids? This is very similar to what Alice and Rosalie's make up looks like in the movies.
And if you pay close attention on the boy's make up, they use a soft pink or red eye liner. This is a fantastic way to wear your eyes if you don't want to exagerate a lot.

Recommended Eye Products:

Rich Full Lips for a vampire that has recently fed.

Most vampire legends, including Steph's, mention lucious bright lips as a trait for vampires who recently fed off a victim. This creates an awesome contrast with the pale skin.

What you need is:

- Bright lipstick in red, rose, pink shades. It's your choice.
- Lip palm and/or lip gloss.
- Lip liner.

Important Tip #1 - If you already have full lips, you need to take full advantage of that. We want to exagerate all of your best features to make you look inhumanly beautiful but keeping your real qualities. If this is your case I would suggest using a sexy rouge or bright pink for the lips. Then add some lip gloss.

Advice #2 - If you have thin lips getting lip liner is a must if you want to have fuller lips. You apply it around the borders of your lips and then fill in your lips with bright lipstick and gloss especially in the middle of your bottom lip. Lip gloss is very important for the full lip look, makes them jucier!

If you want your lips to be extra full you can also get a lip plumper. Again, by Too Faced there's this wonderful product called Lip Injection. I would totally recommend it. As the owner of thin lips myself I use all the help I can get and I've used this exact lip plumper before, I can say it does work.

Advice #3 - Another way is this one:

Some pale rose pink lipstick and lipliner, no gloss or balm. It goes perfectly with the pale/vampire look and it looks close to what the actresses make up looks like in the movies.

Recommended Lip Products:

Body Shimmer

One thing you shouldn't leave your house without it's the vampire shimmer. Even if the party is at night, I would still rock this look because it draws attention to the flawless vampire granite skin and it makes perfectly clear that you're dressed as something special and immortal (remember we want the non-Twilight fans to know what you're dressing up as?).
The product I would recommend is Kitty Glitter by Too Faced. Or whatever similar product you can find.

The cool thing about this product is that it's a sweet light powder, so you're not gonna shine like a disco ball, as you would if you buy some random Halloween-ish glitte cream product we desperately want to try and avoid. Plus, you can wear this again on a night out with your friends. It all depends on the ammount of powder you use. To quote the Too Faced website: Dab a little on for that "come hither" look or dust on liberally for a "see-me shine" effect. I would go for the "see-me shine" effect since it's Halloween, but you can use whatever ammount you're comfortable with.

How to - Apply the powder on neck, cleavege and arms. I wouldn't apply directly on the face, unless it's a very tiny portion and with a brush. These things tend to look very different on the face than on the body, so don't go over board on the face.

Instructions for Twilight Characters + Official Twilight Make Up Line

Now that you have the general basics for face, eyes and body shimmer, here are the specific instructions if you want to look like a particular Twilight vampire. Follow the same instructions for face and body shimmer that we posted before and now follow these different tips for eye make up and lips. We're also going to link you the official Twilight make up products, in case you want them. I posted all those Too Faced products because I buy that line and I'm very familiar with it, so I can recommend it from experience. But here well have other options as well.

Each Twilight vampire character has the same basic vampire make up, but they have little details that make them different from each other. For instance, Alice's make up is young and upbeat. Esme's make up is more sexy and mature. Rosalie's make up is more classy. Victoria's make up is fierce and bold.

Alice's Make Up Guide

In New Moon, Alice's make up has more details than it had in Twilight. For instance, she now wears eye shadow. The colors she uses are earth tones. Brown, gold, beige, brick red, etc.

How to Apply Eye Shadow - First apply a gold or beige tone of shadow on your eye lid. Then look for a darker brown tone for a smokey look. Apply in the area between your eye and the bone. Finally apply a light tone in the area above your eye lid and under the eyebrow.
Select a dark brown color and carefully fill your eyebrows. There's special little eye brushes for that job, but you can also use the thinest brush you have.
Then apply black eye liner in the upper eye lashes, this requires a very steady hand! Apply brown eye liner on lower lashline. This makes your lashes look fuller and your eyes larger. A typical way to apply eyeliner is to line eye from the inside of the lashes outward in one big sweep. You can also line the eye from the middle of the lashline outward. Finally, apply a coat of mascara.
Optional: Darkness under the eyes. Like I said on our first basic tips, this is not something I would do since it's a detail that can easily go overboard and ruin the entire look, making you look like a Halloween stereotype instead of something cool and original. However, I do like how it looks on Alice. Notice how there's a slight color under her brown eye liner. If you can achieve that look, it would be wonderful.Use a light brown for this.

Important tip: Make sure you blend you eye shadow. You can use the tip of your middle finger to carefully blend the colors of your eye shadow.

Lips - Alice's lip color is brick red. What you need to do is find a exactly this shade of lipstick and lipliner. First apply the lip liner around and then fill in with the lipstick. Optional: lipgloss. If you want your lips to be fuller, apply lipgloss on the center of your lower lip. Also optional: lip plumper. The official Twilight make up line also has lip plumper called Twilight Venom.

Face - An extra tip I suggest for Alice's make up, is to grab a light rose blush and apply slightly with a brush on you cheeks. Make sure it's just a gentle touch of blush, and not how you would normally apply. It's just a touch, remember you're a vampire and you don't have much color left! You could also grab some of the body shimmer and slightly apply on your cheek bones only with you brush. Just a little touch, I need to stress this enough.

I recommend for Alice's look the follow products and tones from Luna Twilight's official make up line and from Too Faced:

Esme's Make Up Guide

If I'm allowed to play favorites, I'll say Esme's make up style is by far my favorite. And I think it's the most appropiate for a Halloween party at night, especially of you're not a teenage fan. She chooses smokey eye shadows and darker eye liners for a very sexy sultry vampire.

How to Apply Eye Shadow - First apply a smokey eye shadow on your eyelid. Next apply a metalic and light tone above your eyelid and under your eyebrow. Make sure you blend the colors smoothly.
Esme's black eye liner is darker and thicker than Alice's. A typical way to apply eyeliner is to line eye from the inside of the lashes outward in one big sweep. You can also line the eye from the middle of the lashline outward. Finally, apply a coat of mascara.
Optional: Darkness under the eyes. Esme's darkness under the eyes is more piercing than Alice's. Choose a gray eye shadow for this look. Apply smoothly under your eye.

Important tip: Make sure you blend you eye shadow. You can use the tip of your middle finger to carefully blend the colors of your eye shadow.

Lips - Esme's lip color is brick red too, but darker.

Face - An extra tip I suggest for Esme's make up, is to grab a little shimmery golden light eye shadow, yes eye shadow, and with your blush brush apply on your cheek bones and nose. Notice how they slightly shimmer? Let's try to copy that same look. It's ethereal and beautiful.

These are the products and tones I recommend for Esme's make up, again by the official Twilight make up line and by Too Faced cosmetics as well.

Rosalie's Make Up Guide

Rosalie's colors and tones are a little similar to Esme's, but less dark and less intense. She also wears gray eye shadows but they're not smokey.

How to Apply Eye Shadow - First apply a soft gray shadow on your eyelid. Next apply a light tone above your eyelid and under your eyebrow. Make sure you blend the colors smoothly.
Her lower eye line is also brown like Alice's.
Optional: Darkness under the eyes. Rosalie's darkness under the eyes is like Alice's too. Not as striking as Esme's.

Important tip: Make sure you blend you eye shadow. You can use the tip of your middle finger to carefully blend the colors of your eye shadow.

Lips - Rosalie's lip color is the lightest of all of them. It's the same earthly tone, but very light, almost pink. Optional: lipgloss. If you want your lips to be fuller, apply lipgloss on the center of your lower lip. Also optional: lip plumper. The official Twilight make up line also has lip plumper called Twilight Venom.

Face - An extra tip I suggest for Rosalie's make up, is to grab a little shimmer on her cheeks, forehead, chin and nose. Notice how they slightly shimmer? Let's try to copy that same look. It's ethereal and beautiful.

I recommend the following products for Rosalie's look from the official Twilight make up line and also from Too Faced:

Bella's Make Up Guide - If you choose to not be a vampire and be her for Halloween.

This guide will be completely different from the rest. Toss aside the vampire tips I gave and just try to create a very human beautiful and natural look (unless you want to be vampire Bella ;) ).

Bella also wears earth tones but they are very natural and less obvious than the othe characters.

How to Apply Eye Shadow - First apply a soft cream shadow on your eye lid. Something light and warm. Then apply over your eye lid and under the bone a darker golden eye shadow, or a light brown. Apply a light creamy shadow, lighter than the original you used first, and apply under your eyebrow. Don't apply any dark eyeliner on your upper eyelashes. Apply a brown eye liner on your lower lashes. Add a light coat of mascara.

Lips - Bella's lips are very natural. She doesn't wear lipstick or lipliner or lipgloss, but just a rose pink lip balm.

Face - Apply a rose pink blush on your cheeks, forehead, chin and nose.

Recommended products for Bella's look from Too faced:

Victoria's Make Up Guide

Victoria's make up shares a lot of similarities with the other characters, but she takes them one step forward. Darker eye shadows, much darker lips.

How to Apply Eye Shadow - First apply a dark smokey gray shadow on your eyelid. Next apply a light tone above your eyelid and under your eyebrow. Make sure you blend the colors smoothly.
Optional: Darkness under the eyes. Follow the same instructions as with the other characters. I would suggest her darkness under the eyes to be just a little bit darker than the other characters'.

Lips - Victoria's lip color is very dark. Choose a dar red lipstick and lipliner of the same shade. No lipgloss here! Her make up is rough and there's no softness anywhere.

Face - Apply the same shimmery last touch on cheeks, forehead, nose and chin.

Recommended products and colors for the Victoria look:

Jane's Make Up Guide

This is the guide I recommend for girls under 18. If you're young, I think the best vampire look for you is Jane's. A very young but deadly girl.

How to Apply Eye Shadow - Her style is darker and over the top. Even more than Victoria's! You need to apply a very dark eye shadow, almost black, on you eye lid. Apply it heavily. Next, apply a light tone above your eyelid and under your eyebrow. Make sure you blend the colors smoothly. Fill your eye brows gently with a lighter eye shadow than the rest of the other characters. There's special little eye brushes for that job, but you can also use the thinest brush you have.
Then apply black eye liner in the upper eye lashes, this requires a very steady hand! Both upper and lower eyeliner must be black and applied heavily, very heavily. Finally, apply tons of mascara. Jane's eyes are the most striking of the bunch, so don't be afraid to exagerate. Afterall, it's Halloween.

Lips - Jane's lips are big contrast. They are very soft, like a child's, and she uses pink rose lipstick and lipliner. No lipgloss at all.

Face - Like with Alice, we're going to apply the slightest hint of light pink blush on her cheeks and nose only.

Products and tones I recommend for Jane's look:

And that's it! Those are our updated guides. So far we have no pictures of Heidi, but as soon as we know what she looks like for New Moon, I'll create her guide as well. For the time being, I recommend that for her look you use the first tips on this guide. They are more general, but since they are more on the sexy side, I have a feeling that they're spot on. Don't forget that for these character guides you can also use Jerrod's recommended products for smooth ethereal skin.

If you can't afford to spend a lot of money, remember you can still use your own products on your make up bag and borrow some of your friends (eye make up like mascara and eye liner are delicate stuff, I suggest you DO NOT share those).

If you can spend a little money, I suggest this great kit by Too Faced: Queen For A Day Value Set Bag. This bag pretty much includes most of the stuff you have to wear for this guide, all for a much smaller price than if you purchase the products separetly. This set contains: Eyeshadow Quad (almost the exact shades you need for any vampire look) - Snow Bunny Bronzer (for the extra shimmer on your face)- Lip of Luxury Lipstick in Free Love (Pale Pink, the best color for Bella, Rosalie or Jane)- Shadow Insurance (Translucent Beige)- Mini Lash Injection Pinpoint (Black)- Flatbuki Brush that you can use to apply the body shimmer.

Good luck and don't forget to tell me how you rocked this look for Halloween or any other Twilight event. I'd love to see pictures too, so feel free to send them over! If you have any additionaly questions, ideas, suggestions, feel free to e-mail me. I hope you have a lot of fun recreating this look :).
