WINNER – Kristen Stewart Best known for: “Twilight” saga Twilight Character: Bella Swan Non-Twilight highlight: “Snow White and the Huntsman” Why: Stewart has enough respect as an actress to work in independent cinema for years. She’s got a new Olivier Assayas film in the can, is starring in Tim Blake Nelson’s new drama and is expected to join Jesse Eisenberg in “American Ultra.” Plus, she still has a toe in Hollywood as her second franchise, “Snow White and the Huntsman,” has a a sequel still in the works.
Kristen Stewart is definitely the big winner of the Twilight saga, becoming an international star and fashion icon in just four years. We had only seen her in a few indies before Twilight, but once the first movie came out everyone knew she was here to stay. Hundreds of major covers and fashion contracts came of her stardom, and she was constantly everywhere for the duration of the saga. While we do wish there were more (and perhaps better) projects coming her way so we could see her more often in theaters, she’s taking the direction she wants to take with her career and she’s closer to where she wants to be.
LOSER: Taylor Lautner Best known for: “Twilight” saga Twilight Character: Jacob Black Non-Twilight highlight: Hosting “Saturday Night Live” Why: Lautner’s non-“Twilight” career has been bumpy to say the least. He starred in the thriller “Abduction” that was stupidly rushed into production before it was ready. Even with bad reviews, the tepid box office proved Lautner was not ready to top line a movie on his own. That was one reason the reboot of “Stretch Armstrong” he was attached to fell apart so quickly (also, no one wants to see that movie anyway). Lautner was also supposed to make a movie with Gus Van Sant, but that still hasn’t gone before cameras. What’s next? An independently produced thriller without distribution where Lautner plays a bike messenger who jumps into the world of…parkour. Yikes.
I think calling him a loser is a bit too harsh. And it’s too soon to make that call anyway. Let’s remember that Taylor Lautner came out of nowhere and all of a sudden became a teen icon worldwide. Taylor has a fan base, people! And it’s strong. The problem is not Taylor himself, but the direction his career is taking, which might not be 100% his decision. Tons of projects have fallen apart, and I think the main problem is that people don’t know what to do with him. Is he an action hero or a heartthrob? Does he want to make movies aimed at boys or at girls? He’s athletic, he can do his own stunts and he could be a great action star in the future, but at the moment his fan base would prefer him to do more female friendly projects, what projects are there for him to do that can combine these two things that characterize him? Not much, if you think about it. Is he a lost cause? Absolutely not. There is still promise. Back in October, Taylor starred as Dirk Diggler in the live read of the script of Boogie Nights, directed by Jason Reitman, and his reviews were simply great. An Entertainment Weekly reporter wrote: Lautner was perfect. He captured Diggler’s earnestness, sweet stupidity and eventual megalomania with an easy grace that makes you wonder why he hasn’t been given more interesting roles in films. Or maybe Diggler is just the perfect part for him.” Variety on the other hand wrote: “Taylor Lautner ably stepped into the role of Dirk Diggler with great gusto (…) Lautner proved himself to be more than just a “Twilight” hunk with a hilarious, intentionally off-key singing performance when Diggler tries to reinvent himself as a singer, and played the porn star’s quieter moments with a touching naivete.” For Taylor, it all depends on who’s willing to give him a chance. And of course his management team needs to outline a better plan for 2014, because the action movies are not what he needs right now.
WINNER: Robert Pattinson Best known for: “Twilight” saga Twilight Character: Edward Cullen Non-Twilight highlight: “Cosmopolis” Why: It’s been rocky at the box office for Pattinson since he first broke through with the first “Twilight,” but he does have the hit drama “Water for Elephants” to his credit. He’s smartly focusing on his prestige credentials by reuniting with David Cronenberg on “Maps to the Stars” and is expected to appear in James Gray’s “The Lost City of Z” opposite Benedict Cumberbatch. At 27 he has more than enough time to return to Hollywood studio flicks, when he’s good and ready.
What more can we say about Rob? One minute it was all about Zac Efron, and before Zac knew it, Rob sprouted out nowhere and claimed the spotlight for years. Everyone was talking about Rob. And while we do wish he was making more movies and we didn’t have to wait so long between projects, like Kristen, he’s doing exactly what he wants and us fans have to be patient.
LOSER: Ashley Greene Best known for: “Twilight” “Twilight” Character: Alice Cullen Non-“Twilight” highlight: Uh…”Butter”? Why: As one of the highest-profile supporting players in the franchise, Greene’s post-“Twilight” prospects looked bright – and then she starred in a string of forgettable films including supernatural snoozefest “The Apparition,” Sundance non-starter “Skateland” and the ostensibly straight-to-DVD Miley Cyrus vehicle “LOL.” Her future slate doesn’t look much better, and indeed, her post-“Twilight” career has become more notable for her red carpet and magazine cover appearances thanThe past brush sooo. for anything she’s done on-screen.
We definitely thought Ashley would do a lot more by now, but her name is still out there, and like Taylor, all she needs is the right project, so perhaps there is still hope. What we do ask ourselves is if Ashley knows what direction her career wants to take. I feel that those cast members who are not succeeding at the moment, are those who don’t seem to have a clear plan or direction outlined. Does Ashley want to be on TV shows? Horror movies? Romantic comedies?
WINNER: Kellan Lutz Best known for: “Twilight” saga Twilight Character: Emmett Cullen Non-Twilight highlight: “Immortals” Why: Lutz may end up the luckiest and unlikely start of the bunch. Yes, he’s got a bunch of bad B movies on his resume but Hollywood still sees him as a potential long term action star (it doesn’t hurt the pickings are slim). He’ll be seen next in the “first” “Hercules” movie of 2014, “Hercules: The Legend Begins,” and then return in August alongside Sly Stallone, Jason Statham and Wesley Snipes in “The Expendables 3.” If things go his way, in a decade he’ll be remembered more as a kick-ass action star than a member of the Cullen clan.
Kellan is still the big teddy bear of the saga no many how hard ass movie roles he gets. Ask any fan who’s ever taken a cuddly picture with him. And while a lot of people were rooting for Kellan to fail, he kept his head down and basically started bagging projects right after the saga finished filming. Kellan is young, but slowly and surely he will have a career as an action star, no doubt.
LOSER: Nikki Reed Best known for: “Twilight” “Twilight” character: Rosalie Hale Non-“Twilight” highlight: “Thirteen” Why: Reed showed some promise as the star and co-writer of Catherine Hardwicke’s 2003 drama “Thirteen” (a film based on Reed’s actual experiences growing up in Los Angeles), a gig that led directly into the Hardwicke-directed first “Twilight” installment. Unfortunately, her non-Hardwicke/”Twilight” projects have been more or less a bust, with such little-seen films as the critically-panned 2009 horror flick “Chain Letter,” the 2010 Bruce Willis-Malin Akerman vehicle “Catch .44″ and the Dwayne Johnson-Liam Hemsworth actioner “Empire State” cluttering up her resume. Unless she can make a big turnaround in the next couple of years, this may well be the end of the direct-to-DVD line for the actress.
Nikki was the one cast member that everybody was familiar with when the Cullens were announced in 2007. While the fans were shocked that she was chosen to play Rosalie because she didn’t exactly look like the description in the book, as gorgeous as she was, they slowly embraced her for the role and by the end of the saga she became a fan favorite because of how sweet and generous she is to fans. Ask any fan who’s ever met the entire cast and they’ll
tell you Nikki is the sweetest (and the guys will love to point out for you how she’s the hottest one). So what happened? Like HitFix says, she showed tremendous promise at the start of her career, but then during and after Twilight, her movie roles have been unimpressive, and that is a damn shame. We really hope Nikki can make a comeback, because not only is she multi-talented (singer, songwriter, actress, screenwriter), she’s certainly someone who’s very grateful of her Twlight success and never turned her back on the fans.
WINNER: Peter Facinelli Best known for: “Twilight” Twilight Character: Dr. Carlisle Cullen Non-Twilight highlight: “Can’t Hardly Wait” Why: Seen in small movie roles and sporadic TV work in the late ’90s and early ’00s, Facinelli’s career was running dry when “Twilight” added some new blood. it appears to have taken. Since “Dawn” broke, the actor has eschewed film work in favor of success on the small screen; He currently stars as Dr. Fitch Cooper on Showtime’s “Nurse Jackie,” and recently guest starred on “Glee.” But isn’t it time for a “Can’t Hardly Wait” reunion?
Another fandom darling, Peter Facinelli. Nikki, Jackson, Kellan and Peter were always the ones who never disappointed fans. Always there with a great smile, never turning down a picture or an autograph. Peter landed a great role in such a good show, Nurse Jackie, that I can never recommend this show enough. The fact that he’s starring in one of the best dramas on TV right now, says a lot about Peter and how great he has things after Twilight. Hopefully we’ll get to see him more on the big screen. We’ll never stop having a soft spot for our favorite Vampire Doctor.
LOSER: Jackson Rathbone Best known for: “Twilight” Twilight Character: Jasper Hale Non-Twilight highlight: “The Last Airbender.” Really. Why: It looks like the party is over for poor Jasper. The handsome actor has a few small indie films on the horizon, but none of them is likely to cause much of a stir. Will there be a place for him in the inevitable “Twilight” reboot?
Well, that’s a bit overdramatic! While his career might be currently on shaky grounds, I wouldn’t exactly say Jackson is over. Dude has great charisma, talent and looks, and there’s probably something out there for him if someone just takes a chance on him again like M. Night Shyamalan once did. It’s sad the The Last Airbender was not what the fans were hoping for, otherwise we would be singing a very different tune right now, but Jackson is only 28 years old, and like Nikki, he’s multi-talented and he’ll bounce right back. He’s also super appreciative of his fans and he’s a very deserving guy, always being generous to the fans through out the Twilight years. Like Ashley and Taylor, he just needs to define his career a little bit more clearly and figure out what direction he wants to take. You can read the full list at the source with more winners and losers. What are your thoughts on this? Who are the winners and losers of the saga? Do you agree or disagree with Hit Fix?

You’d think that Hollywood would have noticed the $1.8 billion success of James Cameron’s epic romance Titanic back in 1997 which was partially fueled by younger women seeing the film countless times in theaters. But instead of crafting big-budget entries centered around females, studios merely spent the next decade increasing the arbitrary young-love quotient in male-centric films like Armageddon and The Patriot. Even animation, once a place for female-centric narratives like Pocahontas or Anastasia became a proverbial boy’s club in the wake of Shrek and Pixar’s rise to the degree that Brave was considered a “big deal” in 2012. By the time Twilight rolled around, the conventional wisdom was that female-centric films were tantamount of box office poison due to the whole “girls will see boy films but boys won’t see girl films” cliche. Female-centric hits like Deep Impact, Charlie’s Angels, Sex & the City: The Movie, or Mama Mia! were written off as flukes and not to be used as a template for success, while female-centric flops like Electra or Catwoman was held up as proof that female-driven superheroes were box office poison. But Twilight kick-started its franchise five years ago with a stunning $69 million opening weekend and eventually earned $392m worldwide on a $38m budget. Unlike the quick-kill sequels which generally opened over/under $140m and ended up over/under $290m domestic, it didn’t collapse after opening weekend, what canadian pharmacy is legitimate earning $192m off that $69m debut weekend, a solid 2.76x multiplier. Its fan base peaked at New Moon, but it along with the Harry Potter sequels, helped prove that you didn’t need to expand your fan base if that fan base was big enough. Twilight and its respective sequels finally and indisputably proved that there was a real and potent market for blockbuster franchises explicitly aimed at, and unquestionably about, women. When The Twilight Saga: New Moon shocked the industry by opening with $142 million four years ago this weekend, the most interesting statistic was that the audience was 80% women. Aside from a missed marketing opportunity for Ninja Assassin (“So, your girlfriend dragged you to New Moon, now it’s YOUR turn to pick the movie!”), the stat showed that even if not a single ticket buyer for New Moon had beenYour way love have this a for I, cialiswomen-femalecialis.com some it. male, the film still would have snagged the biggest opening weekend of 2009. This was hard proof that a film entirely targeted at females, centered around a female, and concerning the narrative journey of a female, could attract genuine canadian pharmacy bushnell fl blockbuster dollars without the male audience.
You can read the rest of the article here at Forbes.com. I think it’s important to point out, once
all is said and done, that Twilight did a lot of good canadian international pharmacy association reviews for women in the film industry, for female audiences in general, and that there is not a single new franchise out there that doesn’t aspire to duplicate its success as much as possible. If Twilight’s success is still helping female centric projects being made at all, I think we can all agree
that Twilight did more that anybody ever hoped for.

Just when you thought you knew it all about the Twilight saga and the movies, you learn that, in fact, there’s new stuff you had no idea about. Like, how there was a mold of Kristen’s butt in order to create a special device that would help Taylor Lautner carry her around for long periods of time after having to shoot a scene multiple times.
“I literally went and got my rear end molded to make this day easier on Taylor,”
But where is that mold, exclaimed thousands of Krisbians. We have no idea but you can watch the behind the scenes video detailing this new tidbit here exclusively at EW.
